A collection of biographical sketches of the mainly Pennsylvania German Mennonites who settled in Waterloo Township and adjoining areas in the first half of the nineteenth century. The details for nearly 8,500 pioneers and their descendants are organized alphabetically according to the 142 principal pioneer families identified by the author through exhaustive research. A 44-page introduction outlines the migrations of Mennonite families from Pennsylvania to Upper Canada between 1799 and 1835, the formation of the German Company, and the locations in which families settled.
